Champions League player ratings: Manchester City v Bayern Munich

Hart – Did well to turn round a few long range efforts and will be glad of the clean sheet that’s proving so elusive in the Premier League. 7

Savic – Highly creditable performance from the youngster. Olic is a difficult opponent, yet Stefan dealt with him well and showed his quality on the ball when going forward. 7

Clichy – Neat and tidy both in defence and attack. Looks even more at home on the European stage than the domestic one. 7

Lescott – Unlucky not to open the scoring. Once again Joleon didn’t look out of his depth, despite some people’s fears. Mancini may quietly regret not playing him in Munich. 7

Kompany – Showed his quality on the ball and dealt comfortably with any threat from Bayern. 7

Barry – Another steady game, carrying on from where he left off against Norwich. 7

Y Toure (Balotelli 81) – Brilliant burst through the middle for the second goal. Elsewhere Yaya’s passing was a bit hit and miss. 7

Silva (Johnson 83) – Appropriate that our player of the season so far should open the scoring with an absolute cracker. The Champions League will be poorer without him. 8

Nasri – Another who continued his good form from the weekend. Probed the Bayern defence while showing intelligent movement. 7

Aguero – Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, particularly with the run round the defence that ended with a shot cleared by Boateng. Segio’s movement was of the highest order. 7

Dzeko (De Jong 77) – Once again playing alongside Aguero brought out the best in both of them. Involved in both goals and worked the Bayern back line well. 7

Subs:

De Jong – Brought on to prevent the Bayern midfield getting behind ours, and did the job expertly. 7

Balotelli – A gentle run out to keep the Italian from getting too cold on the bench.

Johnson – Little opportunity to display his skills.
