Player ratings: Bolton Wanderers v Manchester City

Given – Will be bitterly disappointed at conceding three goals even if there was little he could do about any of them. 6

Richards – Got forward well and scored a fine goal. Question mark over the third Bolton goal when Ireland was the only City player trying to stop the cross. 6

Sylvinho – A decent Premier League debut for City. Rarely gives the ball away and shows the composure you’d expect from a Barcelona veteran. 6

Lescott – Not as commanding as of late, and missed a presentable header before the air-shot that could have won the match. 6

Toure – Some timely interceptions but never able to fully subdue Kevin Davies and the Bolton attack. 6

Kompany – Looked rusty and is clearly still feeling his way back after a lengthy lay-off. 5

Wright-Phillips – Crocked early on and never able to participate thereafter. 5

Barry – With Kompany alongside, there was a lack of mobility in the middle. Barry should have been the one getting forward more. 6

Adebayor – Clearly doesn’t enjoy being treated as a target man for aimless high-balls. The Togolese spent far to much time on the flanks and rarely threatened. 5

Tevez – Continually dropping deep and drifting to the right as he sought to get us playing football. It wasn’t just about team-play though, as two fabulous individual goals salvaged a draw. 9

Bellamy – A fine pass to Richards set up the second goal, but his afternoon will be remembered for the unjust sending off. 7

Subs:

Ireland – Intelligent movement and positional interchanges caused the Bolton defence problems. Stevie’s passing was also perceptive and telling. 7

Robinho – Caused Bolton problems with some nice touches on the left flank. Inches away with a last minute shot. 6

Santa Cruz – Little impact, but at least he played as a centre forward. 5
